I don't know if it helps you but the following works as expected (the source code does not search for the string "\n" but for the actual carriage return): [code] $ ffmpeg -f lavfi -i "color=white:d=10,drawtext=text='two > lines'" out.avi [/code] (The "> " is printed by my shell when I hit "Enter" after "two".)
