Thanks Steve, I didn't realise a 'copy' was enough to make a MP4 that could be played back with a browser. Can I assume the source "mpeg" was actually already H264? It just needed to be re-containerized (not sure on terminology) as MP4? Sometimes I have had luck in the past where just renaming a file from foo.mkv to foo.mp4 was all I needed to do, but it's not the case here.
