MAFA is Mid-Atlantic Fiber Association. MAFA is an association of 58 guilds
from 8 states in the Mid Atlantic region. Individuals become automatic
members through membership in a participating guild. Individuals who are
not members of a guild may maiantain associate membership. MAFA has
conferences every other year (odd-numbered years). For several years, MAFA
was held at Bucknell University, but this year it is going to be at Towson
University, Towson, MD. There will be over 40 intensive 3 day workshops on
June 19-21, and more than 100 classes on June 22-24. The complete list of
workshops and registration materials should be availalbe within the next
couple of weeks. I don't think they have a web site, but the email address

In even-numbered years, Handweavers Guild of America sponsors Convergence.

preconference workshops July 28-31, 2002. The web site is:

SOAR is Spin-Off Autumn Retreat, sponsored by Interweave Press. This year
will be the 19th annual SOAR. It starts with three-day workshops, then a
market day, followed by four half-day retreat sessions. SOAR moves around
each year, but it does return to previous sites every few years. This year it
will be at Snowbird Resort in Snowbird, Utah, September 16-23. Information
about this year's SOAR will be in the Spring issue. The web site is:
