I think that they were double treadle. Personally, I do not think I would forgo a hand crafted wheel such as the Jensen for something else. I have a Schacht wheel that spins beautifully but I have a hand crafted custom made wheel on order right now. Although I chose someone different, Jensen is an excellent wheel right. One thing to consider is the ratios offered by each wheel. Are they within the range you are looking for?
