Giorgi Dimitrov, the Bulgarian who headed the
Third (Communist) Internationale, and who had some
differences with
Stalin, as many did then, published his famous tract,
"For a United Front Against Fascism," (q.v.) in which
he called for united action which did not violate the
independence of the various parties. This was too
late for Germany, unfortunately, was rejected by
England, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Austria, and the
other European countries not allied with Hitler, with
the exception of France, where the United Front was a
power. Alone, it wasn't enough to prevent the
disaster in Spain, but it is notable that out of the
victims of Hitler, only France, Yugoslavia, and Greece
had any sizeable Resistance Movements.
It is also notable that Yugoslavia had to fight a
native fascist
"resistance" movement, the Chetniks, which was favored
by certain Allied elements, (read, "Churchill.")
Also instructive is the tale of the Buddha who
warned the people that their house was on fire, but
they refused to leave because the weather outside
might not be to their liking.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
     Carpe diem.
We must ask ourselves which is preferable:
A Hillary or Hillary look-alike, whom we have forced
as far to the left as possible but still is not
perfect; or a George Bush clone who will diminish
democracy ever more?
