When I did my paper on a similar topic 3 years ago, I got my figures from this OCLC prototype: http://www.oclc.org/research/researchworks/worldmap/prototype.htm. Some of the figures are from really old sources, so you may want to check if there are newer versions. I also changed some figures here and there based on what I could find from other sources.
