Philippine Expressions Bookshop just finished their Authors Series # 3 on
Friday, April 30.
Their last event for Spring 2010 will be a small No Host Dinner which I have
organized for author
Miguel Syjuco on Tuesday, May 4. Open to just a small crowd of people who will
respond until 5pm
on Monday, May 3 This small gathering will allow guests to know him better over
food and wine.
Venue will not be announced except to those who will RSVP.

Miguel Syjuco will be appearing at the LA Public Library on Wednesday, May 5 at
7:00pm and we
encourage everyone to attend the library event. Syjuco was the 2008 Man Asian
Literary Prize winner
for his debut and much-acclaimed novel, Ilustrado (Farrar, Strauss and Giroux,
2010). He also won the
Palanca Award for the unpublished manuscript of Ilustrado. Born and raised in
Manila, he currently lives
in Montreal.

Syjuco will be at the Los Angeles Public Library Reading "ALOUD" program with
Cecilia Manguerra
Brainard as the moderator. You will need to make reservations at www.lfla.org
(Library Foundation of
Los Angeles). It is free and once on the website, click on future or
forthcoming programs and select
May 5, 2010. You will need to "add to cart" and complete the transaction
without being charged.

If you will be unable to attend the library event, we accept orders for a
signed copy of Ilustrado. Just email
<[email protected]>for more details. Or come to the
dinner and he will sign
the book for you. Hear from you.
