In active participation to the country’s premiere book event, the Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians, Inc., fully-engaged, member-driven Association, or PAARL, Inc. is pleased to invite you to an afternoon of learning and interaction in a forum focusing on the theme: Policing Plagiarism & Copyright Updates beginning 1pm to 3:30pm on September 14, 2011 at the Meeting Rooms 4-6, SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City. Invited forum speaker shall focus on encouraging the library personnel and information professionals to battle plagiarism ethically. In the course of facing controversies and detection, the lecture shall assist and equip each one with appropriate professional tools in order to cope with observed negative behavioral patterns of both the abusers and the organization’s stance and responses. Session will provide copyright updates, here and abroad, deriving guidelines from knowing the seriousness of the issue. Participants are expected to acquire monitoring attitudes alerting each one to the importance of assessing, through review of works and reports, either online or non-web-based, own information and copyright literacy. There is a registration fee of P300.00 for members, P350.00 for non-members and P200.00 for students to cover lunch and certificates. Renewal and application of membership for 2011 are also encouraged. Mula noong 1967, ang batang si Mandy ay nag-ipon na ng mga siniping lathalain (may 47 na bolyum) at sampung (10) album na mga larawan (mula sa 172 na pelikula at mga pabalat na mga magasin at komiks) ng kanyang iniidolong superstar ng kanyang panahon, artista ng All Over the World hanggang sa huling pelikulang napanood ni Diaz, ang Naglalayag (2008). Ayon sa kanyang artikulong, Miracle o Himala, na naisulat bago pumanaw ay di niya hahayaang matupok ng apoy ang kanyang koleksyon bagkus una niya itong ililigtas. Ilan sa mga malalaking larawan ay nakalagay mismo sa pintuan ng kanyang bahay, bintana at maging sa altar. Tinutukoy niyang Nora Aunor Avenue ang lugar na kung saan masusumpungan ang kanyang tirahan. Dito natatagpuan ng mga mananaliksik ang mga dokumentong di mahanap sa mga formal na institusyon na may kaugnayan kay La Nora. At sinumang lalabas at dadaan sa pintuan ng kanyang bahay ay inaasahang magpupugay o magbibigay-galang sa larawang nakadikit dito na tila kilos na iginagawi sa mga santo o rebulto sa Quiapo o Baclaran. Nararapat lamang na ang karubduban ng paghanga ni Mandy ay maipamalas din ng sinumang nais itanghal ang manunulat ng Ang Kuwento ni Mabuti (1951). Tulad ng 35 mm print ng Genghis Khan ni Manuel Conde ay nasa isang Pinoy na nasa California. Ilan sa mga de-kalibreng pelikula tulad ng Insiang at Bona ni Lino Brocka ay inaarkayv at inaalagan ng tamang-tama o higit pa sa inaasahan ay nasa Pransya, ang Ang Maynila, Bayan ko ay nasa pangangalaga naman ng British Film Institute. Mayroon din sa New York, Singapore, Brussels, Berlin at iba pa na ipinipriserba ng napakahusay upang mapanood pa at mapag-aralan ng marami pang mga henerasyon, lokal at global. Huwag hayaang mawala unti-unti ang anumang mga artifact, memorabilia o memento, mga isinulat sa kamay ni GEM bagkus planuhin agad-agad kung saan hahanapin, anu-ano ang mga titipunin, paano payayabungin, at makapagbibigay ng akses sa balana ng mga ginintuang impormasyong matatamo sa mga alaala ng kahapong nabuo sa pagpupunyagi ng isang 4-time Palanca awardee para sa kanyang mga maiikling katha: Kuwento ni Mabuti (First Prize, 1950-51); Pagbabalik (Third Prize, 1951-52); Paglalayag … sa Puso ng Isang Bata (First Prize, 1954-55) at Parusa (First Prize, 1960-61).
