Greeting from the Filipinas Heritage Library!

On July 12, 2014 (Saturday), FHL will once again hold The Printed Word, the
lecture series on the BOOK, its history as well as other facets not readily
known by the public. The second lecture entitled Romancing the Book will also
be facilitated by Ms.  Patricia May B. Jurilla, PhD.

In Romancing the Book, May Jurilla will discuss the history of
making books, the parts of the book, and everything else related to
the book as a material object. Select titles from the rare book
collection of FHL will be displayed to supplement the talk.

May Jurilla has the distinction of being the first Filipino Book Historian in
the Philippines, having earned her doctorate on Philippine Book History from
the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of
London. She is an associate professor at the Department of English and
Comparative Literature of University of the Philippines in Diliman. She
has published various books and articles on the History of the Book in
the Philippines. Her latest published work is Story book: essays on the history
of book in the Philippines (2013).

It is in this connection that we are writing you. May we invite you,
your colleagues as well as students and friends to attend the
lecture on July 12, 2014 at 3:00 pm in the 2F Function Room of the Ayala Museum
and to view the exhibit which will be displayed from July 12 to 18, 2014?
