It sounds like you're cutting off your nose to spite your face, Tony. I've
used topica to admin two lists with 400+ subscribers and major traffic --
plus a couple of other quieter lists -- for a year now and it's been
completely hassle free. Topica support is exemplary and the search function
works exactly as it should. There are no ads if you don't want them and the
site is banner free. List management is really easy. Lots of people choose
to read on the web, and they can have multiple email addresses and easily
choose to which address and by which method they will receive mail.

In the time that I've been on this list... nine months on and off... it has
*always* had problems. You say you're picky but you end up running an
extremely unreliable list whose burps and hiccups defeat the
call-and-response nature of most mailing lists. Huh??

On bandwidth, one teenager downloading Metallica from another uses up more
bandwidth than this entire forum.

This has been an unpaid announcement.

ps Egroups sucks the big kahuna.
