  Hate to mince words, but PhotoYCC is the color *encoding*.  The
encoding is independent of the color space which defines the meaning of
Red Green and Blue, and sometimes specifies a limit to the Gamut.  Has
Ed has said, PhotoCD's version of sRGB allows for negative numbers.  So
the gamut goes beyond sRGB, although the primaries are the same.

  Read the book "Digital Color Management" by Giorgianni and Madden for
more.
