        Easily tested ... if it brightens blackpoint, 
it is a brightness control ... if blackpoint doesn't 
change but whitepoint does, it is contrast ... 
if neither Bp or Wp change, it controls gamma 
(... altho you can wonder if it is a true gamma 
power function ...)
