Be sure to do the following: 1. Go to http://www.silverfast.com/silverfast/updates/upd-v5pc-en.html and download the 5.2.1.r00 upgrade. 2. Be sure to save a copy of your invoice as you will be able to upgrade to 5.5 for a very reasonable charge if you purchased the scanner after September 1, 2001. 3. If you are on a PC there is a utility in the Insight folder to install STI. I am at home now so I don't remember the exact name but if you go to "start'. 'programs' and insight you will see it. You will need this to use firewire and in some cases Silverfast requires it. This should fix the problem. David
