This sort of thing has been stated a number of times recently.  I can't
really be sure for any scanner other than mine, but the choice of resolution
*does* make a difference to the way the scanner functions physically on
the LS30.  A scan at 100dpi is *much* faster than a scan at 2700dpi.  If
the scan was always done at 2700dpi, the speed of the scanner should never
change.

Also (in big bold letters YMMV) I have found that I get *sharper* results
scanning at 100dpi to produce a web image than scanning at 2700dpi and resampling.
 But in practice I am only scanning at 2700dpi because it's one pass with
the hardware and it's quicker.
