I have recently seen a slide show where scanned slides were digitally manipulated, then photographed from screen. I don't know what the screen resolution was. When only re-photographed slides were shown, the poor quality was not too noticeable on a 3x4m screen. But then an original slide was shown right next to a digitally manipulated and rephotographed one - the quality was awful in comparison! I have also heard from a friend who scanned a rather old show and then output it to a 4000 line Agfa film recorder that that was a smash success.
