 What is philosophy ?

The literal meaning, from two Greek ones,
 philo, love
 and sophia, wisdom.

So philosophy is the love of wisdom,
and a philosopher ia a lover of wisdom.

But wisdom is not an absolute -
there is always more wisdom than any one person,
or than all people together, can absorb.

As Pythagoras, the first to call himself a philosopher,
 pointed out,
a philosopher is a lover, not a possessor, of wisdom.

 Then if,
 wisdom belongs only to God,
then a philosopher is a lover of God.

According to Plato, the first characteristic of the philosopher is
that he must be prepared to follow the answers wherever the argument
 goes.

And Plato's great pupil, Aristotle added,
'Dear is Plato, but dearer still the truth'.

Then what's wrong to be a philosopher ???
