I also use FinMac 2002b and although I have not experienced your problem exactly I think there may be a bug in this area. Before extracting parts I use a QuicKeys sequence to deal with a number of issues including font for Part Names. Sometimes the wrong font is chosen (eg Engraver, in which case the parts are named with a nonsensical string of musical symbols). I had thought it might be that QuicKeys was the culprit, but your experience suggests maybe Finale is to blame. Perhaps it's worth waiting for Fin2003 to see if the problem has gone away before digging deeper.
