My condolences. I've spent the last couple of years importing Encore
files into Finale, and since most things other"float", they all have
to be re-entered. Lyrics were, of course, in text blocks, and had to
be re-entered and removed, and slurs were just sort of any old where,
and had to replaced with slurs that behave (when I could figure out
where they REALLY belonged). And because you have to TELL Encore to
align notes, and because Encore doesn't CARE if there are 4 1/2 beats
in a 4/4 measure, I had to clean up all those as well. Fortunately,
Finale imported things correctly... aligning vertically
automatically, and the extra notes were thrown into the next measure
or enough out of alignment and easy to spot. And of course the
beaming was helter skelter, because my employer had no idea of how to
group notes in patterns, and Encore will go along with all sorts of
nonsense... Most 9/8 measures were all flagged eighth notes. Except
where they were occasionally flagged in groups of two or five or
whatever. And then there was the "spelling" (one long melisma had an
accidental on every note G G# Gnat Gb Gnat etc... and, for example,
an Ab major chords spelled Ab C D#.

Grueling. At least I was well paid. But it's not the kind of thing
I want to spend my life doing. I sympathize with your text block
chore, Johannes. I hope you are well compensated for your efforts.
