I don't know, because the only broken URLs I've encountered have been Mac-originated. Of course that's not even close to definitive. But it might be for a few reasonable actions: Macs had the advantage of long filenames that included spaces well before Windows; and 8.3-"style" filenames ("style" meaning without spaces, even if they were longer) are common practice even after long filenames were actually permitted under Windows. My composer colleague David still can't get out of the 8.3 habit, and he's not a computer guy. He just sticks with what he first learned. Also, many websites (MP3.com is one) and site-building applications automatically substitute underscores for spaces; I have no idea if Mac apps do this, but something must be letting the unescaped spaces get through. In theory, both platforms can create this sort of issue; in my experience, it's Mac-originated sites that actually do it. I'm certain I could find Windows-created sites with this problem; I just haven't come across any. Is that not your experience also?
