Hello, ... but that's exactly the kind of things that the WordX PI is supposed to handle automatically!!
There have been numerous fixes to the WordX Plug-In, so I suggest trying the latest version first. That would be either TGTools 2.08 or the WordX plug-in that comes with Finale 2003.
