Dear jef, You might try making a copy of the current document then use copy and replace to enter the music from the backup file. This should give you the current layout with the backup music. I like to make my templates contain essential layout information. When I need a new template, I often use a completed file for it, strip the entries, and delete just enough empty bars so that the template has at least two pages of blank staves. I use Data Check to get rid of deleted items, then save as a template. It will retain the layout of the original. This is especially helpful when the layout of the first page is very different from the other pages.
