A customer of mine has a iMac with OS 9 loaded on it she recently purchased a HP Laserjet 2200 and I cant get the printer to print any postscript documents it does not even appear in the chooser under the apple laserwriter icon, since you all helped with the 1200 and it uses the same built in postscript driver as the 2200, maybe you could explain to me how to go about step by step to install the printer so that it shows up in the postscript icon.
First off, Georg, please don't send HTML to the list. We all prefer plain text here.

Second, I would download the very latest OS 9 drivers from HP's web site and try installing those. Early versions of the 2200 drivers had severe problems, but I believe they have been corrected in the latest version.

Finally, if this still doesn't work for you, here is the workaround that used to be required with the old drivers. (It shouldn't be necessary with up-to-date drivers, but just in case...):

1) Open the extensions manager and disable all "HP LaserJet.." extensions.
2) Trash all of your Desktop Printer icons.
3) Trash the "HPUSBDot4Lib" fle in the Printing Plug-ins folder
4) Trash the "LaserWriter 8 Prefs" file in the Printing Prefs folder.
5) Trash the "HP LaserJet 2200" file in the Parsed PPD folder.
6) Restart your Mac.
7) Recreate your desktop printer by using the Desktop Printer Utility and the "Printer (USB)" selection.

Also, make sure the printer is plugged in directly to the iMac's USB port, not a hub.
