[Finale] Layer options?

OK - these drum parts are slowly driving me mad! (yeah, I know - I'm a trombone player, ergo I'm already mad, but that's another discussion).

Is there a way to have a staff style only active on one layer? It would be SO much faster and easier to have slash style notation on layer 1, and "kicks" on layer 2 (or vice versa), but styles seem to cover all layers. Is there an end-run for this, or must it be done manually?
