.... If I saw them (dedicated HD recorders), heard enough good things about them, and they included
digital ins and outs, direct import capability to my computer, perhaps even
phantom powered Mic inputs of reasonable quality, I would probably save my
money for one as it would be ideal for on loacation live recorings.
I have just lashed out and purchased a Yamaha AW4416 dedicated hard drive audio workstation [plus quality studio mikes, monitors etc] which has all of these capabilities - including phantom power for inputs 1 and 2. I have only just begun to experiment with recording and stereo mix downs, but the early results are very promising.
