It is *not* a work for hire! A commission is not the same thing at all! This will be very important when it comes time to copyright the piece. Not only do you still get the credit, but you *own* the piece, unqualifiedly. What Carson is buying with his commission is 1) bragging rights for having brought about the creation, 2) the dedication, if desired, and 3) the right to give the premiere. Sometimes commissioners will negotiate for a more extended period of exclusive use (typically a year), but I don't think Carson's interested in that, and anyway it would be up to him to bring up the subject.
