When an .eps file is inserted into another file (Finale, Word, whatever) and then the file is printed, the fonts used in the .eps file are not automatically downloaded to the printer. Try this:

- On the page with your colophon, put a text block with a character from the Petrucci font. It can be a space so it won't show up on the page, but it should force Finale to download Petrucci to the printer.

Best wishes,

Michael Cook

(By the way, "include fonts" doesn't work: the fonts just don't get included. This is an ancient bug: if MakeMusic can't cure it I think they should at least remove this option)

I created an eps file of my colophon, which includes one measure of music, and inserted it into a FinMac 2Ka file as a graphic. It appears just lovely on screen, but when I printed it, the notes in the graphic came out in Courier rather than Petrucci. How do I fix this?

I just happened to have Finale 2002 running in Classic on my iMac when I saw this post so I did a quick check. Everything worked as expected. However, my music font is Maestro and also I have the music fonts duplicated to a sub-folder in my OS X 'home' folder. The path is: ~/Library/Fonts. My printer is on a local Ethernet network with 3 Macs connected to a hub.

1. When saving the graphic selection I had "Include Fonts" checked.
2. When printing the document with the included graphic, I double-checked in Page Setup->PostScript Options that "Substitute Fonts" was NOT checked.

Near the top of the .eps file are the lines:

...
%%DocumentFonts: Maestro
%%+ Times-Roman
%%EndComments
...

These show the fonts in the EPS file. If you check your EPS in a text editor, what does it show?

I did 1. and 2. correctly. My hex editor shows the missing font listed along with the other two required for this graphic. Now what?
