You might search for Bob Dorough, who was a very quirky vocalist. Probably 
his most famous moment occurs on the Miles Davis cd Sorcerer, singing his 
own tune "Nothing Like You". His Christmas song "Blue XMas (to Whom It May 
Concern)" shows up on the Christmas jazz collections. Gil Evans has also 
performed his music.
