This is on the edge of being off-topic, but I'd like to note that the original score for La Monte Young's _Vision_ (1959), a piece with very long sustained tones, suggested the use of a tube-and-foot-bellows device identified as either an "aerophone" or as "Samuel's wind machine".
I've never encountered such a device, but it seems to have been in use by wind players in the LA area in the late 1950's. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has experienced these things.
