I have a word that begins with a melisma on the first syllable, followed by a rest before the second syllable. The hyphens continue to run under the rest. Is that how things should be, or should the hyphens stop after the last note, before the rest?

Don 't know any rule about this, but logic suggests that the word does continue, even though the noise doesn't.
