At David Bailey's prompting, I did just that, and I gave details about what is slow. I do remember the old days, since I go back to Finale 1, when Display as Postscript (the only reliable WYSIWYG at the time) took more than a minute! But even in those pre-smart-shape days, things got slow only when files got very big. And since smart shapes have been around, I've never seen them this slow.
