I sometimes manage to get myself out of this by fiddling around. Last night it happened, and I think I remember what I did:

Click on the Finder to leave Finale. Then choose Finale in the dock to force it to the front, and immediately after (or while) doing that press the ESC key.

That cancelled the dialog box for me. It could have been a fluke the way it worked that time, but try it next time to see if it works.

Hi all,

I frequently encounter this bug in MacFin2004 -- if you have auto-save every X minutes turned on, when auto-saving an untitled document, Finale will prompt you to name it and specify a save location. That's all well and good, but it seems that Finale 2004 frequently hangs when the dialog box comes up. In other words, none of the buttons in the dialog are active -- including "Save" and "Cancel" -- and Finale becomes unresponsive and you need to force quit. I would say this happens about 25% of the time. Often it happens as soon as you launch the program, since my default behavior on launch is set to "new untitled document," and Finale 2004 wants to auto-save the untitled document right away.

Hope you can get this sorted out.
