Hi Brian,

It's fine if the current operation is put on hold when Finale autosaves -- and in fact, that's what happens most of the time. But like I said, about 25% of the time, Finale actually *hangs* when trying to autosave unnamed documents, which means that the dialog box appears but none of the buttons are operational. It doesn't matter how long you wait -- you can't name the unnamed document, or hit "Cancel," or anything, because the program has become completely unresponsive. When that happens, you must force-quit Finale. Clearly, this is a bug and needs fixing.

Regards,

- Darcy

Hello,

It will take a moment for Finale to autosave, and any operation that is currently happening will have to be stalled in order for Finale to complete an autosave (for example if you are in the middle of mass moving something).
You can set Finale to do "nothing" when launching.

I hope this helps!

Subject: Auto-Save Stall Bug

Hi all,

I frequently encounter this bug in MacFin2004 -- if you have auto-save
every X minutes turned on, when auto-saving an untitled document,
Finale will prompt you to name it and specify a save location. That's
all well and good, but it seems that Finale 2004 frequently hangs when
the dialog box comes up. In other words, none of the buttons in the
dialog are active -- including "Save" and "Cancel" -- and Finale
becomes unresponsive and you need to force quit. I would say this
happens about 25% of the time. Often it happens as soon as you launch
the program, since my default behavior on launch is set to "new
untitled document," and Finale 2004 wants to auto-save the untitled
document right away.

Hope you can get this sorted out.

Regards,

- Darcy
