I wonder how those of you crazy about standard engraving conventions deal with horizontal positioning of tuplet numbers.
Almost every score I own shows that a tuplet number should be placed horizontaly according to metric center of a tuplet, not tuplet's graphical center.
So with simple eighth note triplet the number should match with middle notehead (if on note side) or middle stem (when stem side). In cases when note spacing is even metric center equals to graphical center but otherwise it is not.

My solution for extended triplet passages when brackets are not necessary is to hide all tuplet numbers and apply an articulation imitating tuplet number to every middle note of each triplet. This method works only for odd nums like: 3, 5, 7, 9 etc.
