Owain Sutton asked:

Is there any way to enter accented characters while typing into the score? I'd much prefer to do this than having to prepare lyrics in Word and cut-and-paste.

To which Dennis responded, in part

I know my most-used characters by heart, but open the Windows character map
to show all those in the normal set with their ALT entry codes.

which I did slightly differently, which may or may not also work on MAC.

1) If using edit lyrics, skip to step two. Otherwise, type in the lyrics without the accented characters.

2) Open the "edit lyrics" dialog box, and move the cursor to the first place where you omitted an accented character.

3) Select "text" on the menu bar, and from the text menu select "insert symbol"

4) Froim the character map produced (which I find has the advantage of being easier to read that the Windows Character Map) select the symbol you want to enter at the cursor.

5) Repeat as needed.
