I certainly would be interested in an Open Source font. With my recent
fonts I've been putting the Fontographer files in with them in the hope that
people might take them up and improve any shortcomings.

Of course the problem with fonts is that everyone's taste tends to be quite
individual... people will like different shaped treble clefs, for example.
Who would stop contributors just changing the characters they don't like?

The other thing is that there are many fonts readily available with the
various demo applications going around the place - in spite of the current
incompatibilities between the Opus fonts and the Finale OS X application.
Not being open source, it's not possible to legally change the Opus font to
make it work with Finale without Sibelius' permission, or even to tell
others how to make it work, as I was informed via an email from Sibelius.
So an open source font would have been nice in this situation.
