Since you are still on Fin2k3 you might want to check out JWTimeSig (a plugin from Jari).

Unfortunately it doesn't support more recent Mac versions, one plugin I really miss. Very useful in a variety of situations, not just contemporary music.

A time-intensive task I'd like to have (maybe it exists; I'm using 2K3):

Speedy Entry Match Measure Length to Entered Notes.

Exiting a measure sets the time signature of that measure to largest
integer beat, as configured in a setup dialog. This is kind of the opposite
of the current method, where the signature is set first and then the
measure is filled out with rests.

I could set it, say, to hide the signature. That way, I could enter a piece
like the one I'm currently setting (a looooong 1932 solo sonata with a
different number of beats in each measure, but no time signatures). As I
finished each measure and right-arrowed to the next, it would set the time
signature of the measure I'm leaving to match the actual notes entered in
the measure, and hide it.

This would help with lots of contemporary scores where only the metrical
chunks are the important features, and measures are vestigial placeholders
at best.

(If this already exists, I'm red-faced.)
