Thanks to all who suggested using EngraverTime, and Michael Cook's idea of
placing the large meters on invisible staves is an excellent one.  One
problem remains: EngraverTime contains numbers only, no "+" symbol for
compound meters.  Using "+" from another font positions the symbol at the
top of the meter numerals, rather than at the vertical midpoint.  Does
anyone have a version of EngraverTime with a properly positioned "+"
included?
