I tried a demo of Virtual Singer and laughed my face off. Lots of fun for comic send-ups, but should Finale have these features? I'm not so sure.

It just doesn't feel very professional. Others will disagree, of course.

You want to get excited about something?

I've told make music to take a look at one particular package called Melody Assistant (Harmony Assistant is its big brother). Actually, that package, which incredibly inexpensive, is a GUI nightmare.

However, what IS amazing about it is an add-on called VIRTUAL SINGER. With it you can type in words and the program will digitize and sing it back! You can even choose the language (think English "die" versus German "die"). You can choose one singer or many, how in/out of tune, how much vibrato, how they are panned, etc. It's really pretty amazing for such a small price ($20 for the sequencer and $20 for Virtual Singer). On a couple of occasions I have exported a MIDI file from Finale to this program to make a choral demo (check the web site for demos).

Think about it. Finale with voice synthesis. Check out their web site:
