Not sure which version of OSX you are using. CoreMIDI was not really working condition until Jag, however. Anyway, I too experience FinMac MIDI problem at launch time to time (tho I haven't seen it since 2005a), while any other DAW app won't display this problem. I suspect something is funky in Finale CoreMIDI. All what I have to do is to open MIDI Patch Through dialog and close it without doing anything else, and MIDI just kicks in.
