I bet Hotmail just makes a "dumb" check for sequences of binary data that would be a sign that it's a known virus (so when some Finale files occasionaly have this sequence Hotmail thinks it's a virus). Since all this has to be done in real time for millions and millions of mails, I believe the check has to be pretty "stupid" to be fast enough - not like "real" anti-virus programs.
