I see from your e-mail address that you're from Nashville -- I've always heard that Nashville musicians have their own way of doing things, and with the fantastic music that comes from there, you won't find me arguing with their methods!
And as long as all concerned understand the same numbering system, there really isn't any problem with any of us doing it in an idiosyncratic way.
