many probably know this already, but for those who don't, you can speed things up and eliminate much of the screen redraw when copying across measures by reducing the width (and height if you like) of the screen as much as possible, so that only the beginning of the target measure is seen (opt-sh-click on mac). cmd-pagedown/up to get to the next measure.
you really get nostalgic for "redraw interrupt" when copy-drag-pasting music in an 80-instrument score in F2005.
