This discussion is pretty interesting to me. I use last two 8th slashes stemmed and beamed but no one I know would emphasize on beat 4 unless I put accent marking.
I don't mind unstemmed slash on beat 4 with stemmed 8th slash at the end of 4. I have seen it, and it is fine as long as it is 4/4 but not even 3/4 is OK to me. If you put rest at the beat 4, you worry if someone actually rest. But in real life where I live, no one would make that rest on beat 4. I mean, is it really practical to play like that? To musicians I work with, when I mean rest, I actually have to write out "SILENCE!" or someone will play something, y'know. When I do odd meters such as 7/8 and 5/8, they are mostly Brazilian rhythms such as Quebrado in my cases, and you can't put dotted slashes. They won't groove :-) -- - Hiro Hiroaki Honshuku, A-NO-NE Music, Boston, MA <http://a-no-ne.com> <http://anonemusic.com> _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
