Looking up a very old French theory book (Théroie de la musique par A. Danhauser) which hasn't been opened in ages, found the following abbreviations for intervals:
Second: Seconde: 2de Third: Tierce: 3ce Fourth: Quarte: 4te Fifth: Quinte: 5te Sixth: Sixte: 6te Seventh: Septième: 7me Octave: 8ve

7th (septième), is it 7e, same as the series?
sounds ok to me.
What about octave (huitième sounds wrong to my ear)?
8ve looks like the right choice for an abbrev.
Thanks so much for that! Antidote (the software) doesn't seem to like it, though. I'll use it anyway.
