I have a completely different route. I use a quickeys macro to open every document sequentially and compile a postscript listing to a folder watched by distiller. Open, compile and close is about 2 seconds per file (I'm not working on Operas obviously!). Distiller moves the PDFs to an output folder which has a folder action applescript which does various other things (sorting into folders according to filename, stuffing and FTPing to a remote server). Depends on whether you have Distiller as to whether this is any use to you. Incidentally, my distiller is on a headless network machine (a 350mhz G4) which does lots of stuff like this an considerably frees up my working machine so once the postscript files have been compiled there's no load on my working system at all.
