You wrote this: >>>However, one annoyance is that if you have a Fin2k4 or 2k5 file with >>>expressions that *are* defined for keyswitching during playback, you >>>must set the playback options to "None" for Finale 2k6 (or, at least, >>>the ones Human Playback recognizes). So I see what's happened here. My Soundfont editor also calls "keyswitching" the process of switching ranges to switch instrument techniques (timpani comes to mind, switching ranges for rolls, single strokes and stopped sounds). You can understand my worry about having to have separate scores with different expressions that have such transpositions built in. In any case, I received some very nice explanations off-list that made it clear how it worked, and what was NI/Kontakt product lock-in and what was not. The present high commitment to and integration with NI/Kontakt/GPO don't work for me. I would like an open implementation of the output control algorithms, and prefer that all their features now uniquely implemented with GPO/Kontakt (whatever they may be) be made available to my other sample players. I don't want to get locked into NI to use future Finale features that increasingly use the special features of that software. My other VSTi devices are not NI and never likely will be. So my decision is made to skip 2006 and future Finale versions and wait for actual improvements in the notation program itself (unless a client again requires and pays for a later version). Thanks to everyone for staying with me on this, Dennis _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
