My machine has been rebooted several times since I installed Finale, so that's not it.

Yes, that's it. This is a virgin install of WinXP. I don't follow the Java wars much, but I do remember a flap a few years ago when MS decided not to include Java by default. I've downloaded and installed Java, and now I can install Dolet.

I would suggest that when the Dolet installer is run as part of the Finale install, it should give the same error message about missing Java that it does when I just ran it now, along with instructions on how to install Dolet after Java has been installed.I would also suggest that when the Dolet installer is run standalone, it should have a dialog at the end to indicate completion -- it installed so quickly I almost missed it.
