As I recall the USB ports in your keyboard are both first generation
usb 1.1 ports.
USB 2 ports are lots and lots faster...
So I guess that plugging your laserjet into the keyboard will
slowdown the entire printing process
as soon as you have complex or bigger print tasks... (bottle neck)
The ports on the iMac are all three USB 2... way faster...

Are there drivers that need to be installed? Often they need to
be reinstalled while the printer is connected to the hub, and
don't work through the hub even if you have already installed them
to work when the device is plugged directly into the original USB
port. I think it's an addressing thing.
At least that's my experience on windows machines. I have no clue
if that's the same on Macs, or even if you need to install printer
drivers on macs.
But if you do have to install drivers, follow the installation
procedure while the printers are plugged into the hub.
