Dear Listers, I just got one of these printers from a used printer warehouse in Indianapolis. I've gotten it to work flawlessly with Finale in terms of two-sided printing and booklet printing, but I do have a few questions. Since I note that several of you use this printer, I thought I'd ask here: 1. The printer appears to be vintage 1997 or so. I paid $375 for it with the duplexer and an extra toner cartridge. Did I do OK or was I overcharged? 2. According to the test printout, the thing has only 69000 sheets printed since 1997. That MUST be since it was serviced, no? I did see a parameter in the menus that allowed a reset of the counter when parts were replaced. 3. What sorts of problems have you had with your 5si MX? What issues should I know about, or what should I expect to break one day after my 90-day warranty expires? 4. I don't notice much of any difference at 600dpi between PCL output from Finale 2004 or 2006 and PostScript output from the same files. Should I be seeing a major difference between PCL and PS in things such as beams, hairpins, and slurs? 5. What maintenance tips do you have? 6. What have you replaced, and when? Thanks...Jim W.
