That sort of thing is true for some other tools as well. For example, in Speedy, if you have a chord you want tied to the next beat, put the cursor on the beat with the chord but *not* on any of the pitches in the chord and hit =. All notes in the chord sprout ties to the next beat. (Actually, this toggles the tied state, so if you originally had one note tied but not the others, this trick will leave you with all notes tied except for the one that used to be tied.)

Or if you have a C major chord that you want to turn into a C# major chord, again place the cursor on the chord but not on any one note, and hit +. All the notes in the chord are now sharped.
